For those of you lovelies who are not aware here is a little bit about Devine Nails.

Devine Nails was created in July 2012 by Laura Devine. Devine Nails is Ireland's first hand painted false nail brand. As a nail art enthusiast Laura turned her passion into a business & began creating bespoke false nails.

If life gives you nail polishes...

I saw this quote recently 'If life gives you nail polishes make nail art' which is exactly what I did. I have always had an obsession with nail polish. My nails were always painted whether I had a special occasion coming up or not. Having my nails painted made me feel good about myself. On my lunch break in my previous jobs I would sit & paint my nails. No matter where I went I always had a few bottles of nail polish in my bag. I am a self confessed nail polish addict!

I saw nail art featured in a few magazines therefore I decided to do some research & give it a try. When it comes to Art I don't have any qualifications. At school I had an interest in it however I didn't feel that I was any good and lacked confidence. My grandfather was an artist and creativity runs in my family. When I was younger my grandfather and I would spend endless hours painting, he would suggest things for me to try out. I would often say to him 'I can't do that' his response would always be 'There's no such thing as I can't'. Learning nail art requires willingness and persistence. So if at anytime I feel like giving up, I remind myself of what my grandfather said.

The beauty of nail art is that there is no right or wrong way of doing it. I feel that nail art is an expression of who you are. It does not need to be perfect, it needs to be you. Nail art is a learning process, each day I am still learning. Since I began creating nail art I have been lucky enough to have been featured in Nail Art magazines. I also won nail art competitions and had a lot of fun doing it!

If you are considering trying out nail art my advice would be to GO FOR IT! Below I have listed my Top 10 Nail Art Tips that were featured in U Magazine. Hopefully they help!
  1. Practice makes perfect – practice is the key to nailing that design. Practice on nail art wheels or family & friends.
  2. Toolkit - nail art tools can be purchased in many shops on the high street or online. You can use items around the home as tools e.g. cocktail sticks & pencils make great dotting tools.
  3. Always allow the base colour to dry before adding nail art.
  4. Match your nails to your outfit as the perfect accessory; take inspiration from the fabric or print.
  5. Use a make-up sponge to create ombre nails. Always use a white base to make colours appear brighter.
  6. Make a statement with your manicure by adding nail art to an accent nail. Usually accent nails tend to be the ring finger.
  7. Embellish nails using rhinestones, gems or studs.
  8. Use a pair of tweezers for the easy application of nail embellishments.
  9. A clear top coat is essential to seal the nail art.
  10. Express yourself – do not hold back when it comes to nail art. There is no right or wrong way of doing it. Anything is possible.

How to remove your Devine Nails

Hey Lovelies, below is few steps to help with the removal of your Devine Nails.

Our nails are re-usable if you remove them properly.

In order to remove your nails without causing any damage to your natural nail follow these steps:

1) Fill a bowl with warm water.
2) Soak your fingers in the water for 5 minutes.
3) Check your nails to see if they are becoming loose.
4) If your nails are still firmly stuck on, continue to soak them until the glue loosens.
5) Gently remove false nail from your natural nail.
6) Buff nail to remove any excess glue.

In between wearing your nails you can paint your nails with a clear top coat or strengthener.

I hope these tips help, Laura xx

How to apply your Devine Nails.

Hey Lovelies, below is a few steps to help you when applying your Devine Nails.

1) Remove any nail polish that is on your nails. Even if you don't have any nail polish on wipe your nails with nail polish remover. This will remove any oils that may stop the glue from sticking.

2) You can cut your own natural nail if you wish. I would recommend that you file the edge of your nail. When filing your nails make sure to file in one direction (Think boy-band)

3) Soak your nails in warm water to soften your cuticles. Using a cuticle tool push your cuticles back.

4) Size the false nails up against your natural nail to ensure that they fit each nail.

5) Pierce a hole in the tip of the nail glue provided. You can use a needle to do this. Be careful though as the nail glue can be quite strong.

6) Apply a small dab of glue to the false nail, use the tip of the glue to spread it over the nail.

7) Press the false nail on to your natural nail, hold this for 10 seconds then let go. Wipe away any excess glue.

8) Wipe away an excess glue, if you get glue on your skin allow it to dry then use your nail file to buff it away.

I hope that these tips help. If you have any questions please get in touch. Laura xx

Models Own HyperGel Polish

For a while now I have been needing some Models Own polish in my life. On a recent visit to Boots I noticed that the polish was on 3 for 2 offer, so I thought it would be rude not to purchase some. The collection comes in 10 stunning colors. Below is the colors chosen by me.

L-R: Turquoise Gloss, Naked Glow & Coral Glaze.

Whats the difference between HyperGel and regular polish? These polishes are not the gel that you cure under a UV lamp. They are regular polish that is removed with nail polish remover. They are designed with a thicker formula that give a gel effect finish.

When using the polish I would recommend applying two coats of each to get that salon manicure finish. Models Own HyperGel are priced at just £5 each. If you hurry to Boots you can avail of their 3 for 2 offer before it ends.

You can also purchase the polish directly from Models Own website by clicking here

Gold Glitter Manicure.

Who can resist a little sparkle? I for one certainly can't. I tried out a gold glitter manicure using China Glaze - Cleopatra glitter polish. When purchasing this polish it really caught my eye on the shelf as it dazzled. It almost screamed 'Buy Me!' So I did.

China Glaze 802 Cleopatra.

I began by using a base coat to protect my natural nails. Once this had dried I then applied two coats of the glitter polish and then finished it off with my all time favorite top coat - Seche Vite and Voila!

Gold Glitter Manicure

I would highly recommend this glitter polish. I can not stop looking at my nails, the pictures do not do it justice. The shade of gold shimmers and coupled with the top coat my nails are super shiny. This is a long lasting glitter polish of very high quality. We all know how tricky it can be to remove glitter polish, however this glitter polish can be removed with ease.

As you can tell I absolutely love this polish. You can purchase the glitter polish online. I got mine at Salon Services UK

Seche Vite Dry Fast Topcoat

When creating nail art or a simple manicure it is important to seal each nail with a top coat. The top coat will protect and strengthen your nails.

Here at Devine Nails we are huge fans of Seche Vite Dry Fast top coat.

Seche Vite gives our nails a clear glossy finish and it doesn't smudge the polish.  It dries solid within minutes and is perfect for ladies who are always on the go.  We would highly recommend this top coat to anyone.

You can find Seche Vite online here or in most cosmetic stores. Seche have launched a High Intnesity Color nail polish range that we can not wait to try out.

Beauty UK Posh Polish

As we know Christmas time is all about glitter & sparkle.  Before Christmas we were lucky enough to receive six bottles of glitter polishes from Beauty UK Cosmetics. The polishes are from their Posh Polish range.

Top Row L-R: Twinkle Twinkle, Dorothy & Queen of Hearts.
Bottom Row L-R: Pinkabloo, Antique Chic & Gold Digger.

The polishes vary from plain silver, gold & red to mixed glitter.  The bottles are small enough to fit into your handbag if you are a girl who is always on the go.  They are perfect as a glitter top coat over your favorite nail polish as they are fast drying so there is no waiting around.

We used Dorothy as a sparkly top coat over China Glaze 'High Maintenance' to create our Christmas Wrapped up nails. The red glitter is vibrant & eye catching. Very much like Dorothy's ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz.

We had fun trying out these polishes. A massive thank you to Beauty UK Cosmetics for sending them to us. To get your hands on these polishes you can visit Beauty UK Cosmetics The polishes are available for as little as £3.49 each.
